Dash Eight is a four-piece band based in Maryland. The member's individual tastes have combined to create a sound that is at once familiar and thrillingly original. The songs on their self-titled, self-produced EP are, for a first release, refreshingly mature and devoid of easy categorization. There is Wilco here. There's Paul Westerberg. There are echoes of Buffalo Tom, Rufus Wainwright, and Radiohead, among many others.

But what you find mostly here is Dash Eight. The clock-like precision and consistent inventiveness of drummer, Curtis Krams; the distinct guitar-work of Christopher Demone; Chuck Cook's purposeful, melodic bass lines and the unique songs and voice of singer/guitarist, Adam Stevenson. All these elements come together to realize a tight, visceral, and most importantly, original band that will be around for a long time. But it's not all on the EP. You have to see them live.
